Starting from the observation that during the events of the fair the availability to spend the night decreases and incidentally prices increase, Tsang has imagined the transformation one of the two rooms of Quarter relocated into one hotel room with the following alternating hours: Gallery Hours 12.00 – 16.00 Hotel Hours 19.00 – 11.00.
The gallery therefore, upon request, is transformed into a MONOROOMHOTEL at the disposal of artists, authorized personnel and visitors of the fair, who in this way have a way to sleep over in Torino during the days of Artissima at a reasonable price. The only rule that must be respected is an one night stand, that is, to not stay over for more than a night, with an amusing double effect that in an ironic and lighthearted way alludes to a certain reality of the ethnically diverse neighbourhood of San Salvario, a place where it has been known as the red-light district, where the Quarter is located. The installation consists of a raised platform, elevated 50-60cm above the original floor formed by archipelago of 15 (as the edition of Artissima) irregular cabinet doors paired with a key to each, inserted in their respective keyholes and inescapably triggers a great curiosity. Only by opening the doors of the cabinet can one utilize that which it contains: a twin-sized bed, a locker , a table, a lamp, a storage room, a TV, etc.
